GWAR!!!!

A few weeks ago I drove LNP and Will back from Canada to do some office work and go to a few local premiers. On the way home we got a call from Rome marketing manager Ryan Runke claiming that we needed to get back in time for GWAR, next phone call we got was from long time friend and original Grenade hellion Dave Schiff saying he was in Burlington on tour with Toxic Holocaust. (the band in the intro of Max and Yan’s part) I knew we were in for a long night.

He may not look it here but this was one of the most stoked I've ever seen LNP

For anyone who has never seen Gwar you really need to try to experience it first hand for yourself. I’ve seen them now four times and each time has been completely crazy and completely different. It’s kind of like what I’d imagine Dante’s seventh ring of Hell to resemble, a cross between the merry go round bar scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Auschwitz. They play a powerful frantic type of metal mixed with loud almost humorous lyrics. The funny thing is however almost no one at the show is there to hear the music, they are there for the wild stage performance.

look really close at this photo, there is someone with a prosthetic leg in the crowd....who brings that to a show?

They appear on stage as wild beasts from space or Antarctica or wherever they decide to tell you they’re from. They have swords, spikes, bones, blades, and any other type of weapon to impale, kill, maim, or destroy whatever it is comes up on stage. As the show progresses they kill and shred all types of celebrities, this year it was campaign themed so they killed Bush, Obama, Mccain, Palin, but in the past I’ve seen them kill the Pope, Hitler, even Bam Margera. The crowd goes ape shit, and during the entire show they are drenching the crowd in fake blood. People leave there completely covered in a slimy colored mess that is worn like a badge of honor by concert goers.

Regional rider Tim Benasich

This was the first time either Will or LNP had seen Gwar so as soon as the giant Death Clock started counting down until the show start they were extremely psyched. As soon as Gwar took the stage I saw LNP quite possibly more stoked than I’ve ever seen him since I’ve met him. He bolted immediately to the front with Runke and regional rider Tim Benasich and was almost instantly covered in blood. Will just started laughing hysterically and he and I milled about towards the back most of the night laughing at the spectacle that is Gwar.

Brendan owns Maven one of the best shops in Burlington, He was having a good time

All in all it was a pretty funny and pretty ridiculous night. I’d recommend it to anyone…….especially sponsorship seeking soccer moms….

Will didn't get any blood on him but he still had an epic time

This is kind of what it was like

Dave Schiff is responsible for making Grenade what it is today, He is one of the best people in the world, He recently got "let go" by some new dude at Grenade!?!??? So he was working at the show for Toxic Holocaust

Or check out Gwar on the Jerry Springer show HERE

This is what's carved in the bar at Esox in Burlington, we saw this after the show
