Tahoe Times

Daye and his dog giving us a hand at Kingvale

Well the teaser is done, and very soon we’ll be sharing it with all of you, It met vtdeathrider.com approval with Al, Ron, and Adam, giving it two thumbs up, and George giving it an “All day, Everyday!”. Hung out at the office for a bit and it was great seeing everyone as they bust away on secret new shit for next season, got one day of pow in at Stowe, and then while one crew was blasting off to the other side of the planet, I hopped a flight back to Reno to meet up with Greg Bokenkamp and Jon Foy.

Bokenkamp thinking how much better a groomer is building takeoffs than shoveling them

Right off the plane I bumped into John Graham, Dirty Joel, and Yan, now we won’t get entirely into what went down but Yan won a ton of money at black jack, he then took the rest of us out on the town to one of his favorite places in the world, and finished his night off by hopping an international flight to Eastern Europe. It was great hanging with Joel and Graham but I hightailed it to Truckee in the morning nursing a massive headache to meet up with the guys.

Shoveling a tree jib

The snow was far less than stellar in Tahoe, but we made a couple things happen. We met up with our good friends Durst, Daye, and the Kingvale crew, they’ve got their snow park up and running and it’s awesome. It’s crazy to think how far they’ve come since just a few years ago when I pulled in that parking lot for the first time, but these guys work harder than anyone and all the while they do it without losing sight of fun. Durst and the guys rip around that place on sleds building features and shredding anything and everything, rumors were even swirling of Durst jibbing a bridge with a train! Kingvale has helped immensely with so many videos and they are only getting better and better. While there we ran into our good friend Matt Sickels from Ride as well as Lane Knaack and Jimi Tomer. Good times were had and we’ll definitely be back later in the season for some more.

Jon Foy and Greg Bokenkamp have been hard at work this year

Tahoe/PA/Kingvale Rome rider Pat Lee met up with us fresh off some backcountry in Idaho. We lit some tree jibs up and shot a couple cool things for the movie. After filming we met up with another familiar face; “Showtime” one of our infamous Tahoe House residents from last winter, he went out to dinner with us and then on our way to the Biltmore we checked out his condo in Squaw which has several relics from last year’s Tahoe house including the couch……..not so sure about having that one in your place Kyle, hope you had that thing “DE-Dirty Joeled.”

Other interesting things that have been going on have included staying in a little shed at Jon Foy’s place. Dubbed the “Shack” by Trent, Foy has basically a club house with heat and three beds beside his house that serves as a perfect place for the crew to crash, store gear, and hang. Hakon from Norway is here but we haven’t seen him yet, Casey and Iris have been in town doing a mag story for Future mag, and we’re looking for Johnny Lazz.

we've been working around the clock

I’ve added some old photos that were on my camera from before I left from Reno, but that’s about it from here, I’m pretty much bouncing out to chase some real snow. I’ll check back in a few days with some new updates including some dirt on ole MFR who has been on a crazy round the world journey that’s had her with passport/visa issues everywhere from Japan to Russia.

The Shack is a lot nicer than our last hotel in MI, that place saw some Living....
